Position overview
This role is a remote, field-based Feed Sales Representative - Dairy supporting a confidential client. The position focuses on growing dairy young-animal feed and nutrition business across an assigned territory in Rockingham County, Virginia, with an authoritative location of Harrisonburg, VA. The role combines territory sales, on-farm technical guidance, events and demonstrations, and customer relationship management to drive revenue and market share.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct up to 25 farm or facility visits per week to evaluate feeding programs and recommend nutrition solutions.
- Develop and grow an assigned book of business from day one, leveraging existing customer relationships and new prospecting.
- Introduce and promote feed products, programs, and value-added services to new and existing dairy customers.
- Collaborate with co-op teams and technical experts to support partner goals and deliver consistent customer value.
- Lead educational events, on-site demonstrations, and technical meetings to increase brand awareness and customer loyalty.
- Operate autonomously in a remote field role: manage territory, schedule, and customer follow-up with support from management.
- Coordinate product launches, marketing initiatives, and field events with cross-functional teams.
- Record sales activities and insights using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) to inform territory strategy.
- Make multiple daily sales calls and perform on-farm animal evaluations in variable weather conditions.
- Maintain professional presentation and deliver effective public speaking to groups of producers and stakeholders.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds as required for demonstrations and events.
Location & travel
This is a remote (virtual) field-based sales position that must be located within the geographic territory of Rockingham County, Virginia. The authoritative city for this listing is Harrisonburg, VA. Expect daily travel within the assigned geography and limited overnight travel (approximately 5–10%).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or related field is strongly desired; candidates with a pending degree or relevant sales/industry experience will be considered.
- 0–3 years of professional experience; prior agricultural or livestock sales experience is a plus.
- Strong interest in dairy young-animal care, nutrition, and agricultural products.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Customer service or sales support experience preferred.
- Comfortable using CRM systems (Salesforce or similar) and analytics tools (Power BI or similar).

Compensation & benefits
This sales role is compensated with a mix of base salary plus commission.
- Base salary range: $53,000–$65,000 per year (dependent on experience/tenure).
- Target bonus: $10,000.
- In most cases, hires will be offered pay near the middle of the listed range.
