What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level Facilities Systems Engineer I role designed for a recent engineering graduate or technician who wants hands-on experience supporting large-scale building systems on an institutional campus. You’ll participate in a structured, ~12–18 month training program while working alongside experienced engineers and technical staff.

Key responsibilities:

  • Learn the operation and maintenance of large-scale mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems
  • Support monitoring and performance of critical campus infrastructure
  • Participate in hands-on training for chilled water and steam generation systems
  • Troubleshoot technical and operational issues and assist in root-cause analysis
  • Assist with system performance tracking, data analysis, and documentation
  • Create and maintain practical procedures, technical guides and work instructions
  • Help evaluate and apply technology solutions to improve compliance and system management
  • Develop skills and knowledge to advance into a Facilities Systems Engineer II role with increased responsibility

Who You Are / Qualifications

We’re looking for curious, motivated candidates who want to build a career in facilities engineering.

Minimum qualifications (one of the following):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Sciences, or a related field; OR
  • Associate’s degree in an engineering or engineering-technology field plus two (2) years of full-time experience in facilities systems; OR
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) plus five (5) years of military training or equivalent in boiler/chiller/HVAC systems and five (5) years of full-time experience in a power plant or similar setting (e.g., boiler operator)

Additional requirements & expectations:

  • Willingness to complete required certifications within two (2) years of hire (examples: Facilities Systems Engineer II training criteria, ATMT Boiler Operations certificate or first-class boiler operator license, NFPA 70E arc flash training)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to produce clear technical documentation
  • Practical problem-solving orientation and eagerness to learn through hands-on field experience
  • Collaborative mindset and professional demeanor

Compensation note: The starting annual salary for this position is $75,686 (annual) and the role is full-time (40 hours/week).
