Summary

Confidential Client is hiring a Facilities Electrical Engineer I to support design, installation, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of facility electrical systems and power distribution at a large-scale manufacturing facility near the Kansas City metro. This entry-level engineering role works under supervision on construction, commissioning, troubleshooting, and reliability-improvement activities. The position supports safe, compliant operations and offers professional development in facility electrical engineering.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, design, installation, testing, commissioning, and documentation for new construction and renovation projects related to facility electrical infrastructure.
  • Support load analysis, breaker coordination, arc-flash evaluations, and power quality assessments.
  • Help prepare engineering deliverables: drawings, specifications, BOMs, schedules, and budget inputs.
  • Support electrical equipment installation, relocations, modifications, and decommissioning.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, maintenance, corrective actions, and contractor coordination to maintain reliable operations.
  • Participate in root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions to improve performance and reliability.
  • Follow established engineering processes, design standards, and safety procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to engineers, operations, maintenance, contractors, and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field, or equivalent relevant experience.
    • Working-level proficiency in English (read, write, speak).
    • Solid foundational knowledge of electrical engineering principles and power distribution systems.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple assignments.
    • Self-motivated, coachable, and team-oriented.
  • Preferred:

    • Internship, co-op, or 1–2 years of relevant engineering experience in manufacturing, utilities, or large facility infrastructure.
    • Exposure to battery manufacturing, electronics, automotive, or energy-storage facility environments.
    • Familiarity with substations, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, generators, and related infrastructure.
    • Experience with load flow, short-circuit, breaker coordination, or arc-flash studies.
    • Experience supporting construction, commissioning, or reliability-improvement projects.
  • Certifications & licensure:

    • None required for entry; relevant certifications or EIT/Electrical licensing are a plus.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Typical day: Sit 10%, Walk 70%, Stand 20%.
  • Lifting:
    • Up to 10 lbs.: Frequent
    • Up to 20 lbs.: Frequent
    • Up to 35 lbs.: Occasional
    • Over 35 lbs.: Team-lift only (Occasional)
  • Minimal travel may be required for training, vendor visits, or support at other facilities.
  • PPE may be required, including safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, bump cap, and in some situations Tyvek or respirator protection.
