What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an Estimator to join their heavy civil construction team in Sycamore, IL. This entry-level to early-career role offers hands-on estimating experience, mentorship, and exposure to bidding, preconstruction, and field operations across site development and heavy civil projects.

• Perform quantity takeoffs for assigned scopes and help develop accurate project estimates.
• Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine project requirements.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing; assist in bid outreach.
• Support preparation and organization of bid proposals, estimate files, and documentation.
• Maintain organized records of estimates, subcontractor quotes, and project files.
• Conduct site visits and field measurements as needed to validate takeoffs.
• Participate in project handoff meetings to support transition from estimating to operations.
• Learn and develop proficiency with estimating software, systems, and internal processes.
• Collaborate with Estimating, Operations, and Project Management to refine scopes and costs.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
• Experience with or exposure to HCSS, AGTEK, and Viewpoint is a plus.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Coursework or exposure to estimating, construction technology, or AutoCAD preferred.
• Internship, co-op, or entry-level construction experience is beneficial but not required.
• Demonstrated interest in building a long-term career in construction estimating and project development.

Working Conditions

• This is an in-person position based in Sycamore, IL, with regular travel to active construction sites and other locations as needed.
• Frequent site visits require adherence to PPE and safety policies (hard hat, safety vest, eye/hearing protection, safety-toe footwear).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and to work outdoors in variable weather.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliably operate a personal or company vehicle for jobsite visits.

Compensation

Salary range for this role: $60,000–$90,000 per year, based on experience.
