Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Estimator I (Mechanical/Structural) to support estimating activities for industrial and construction projects. This role focuses on quantity takeoffs, pricing inputs, vendor coordination, and maintaining complete estimate documentation while learning approved estimating methods and systems.


What You’ll Do

  • Perform quantity takeoffs and develop assigned scopes from bid documents and work breakdowns.
  • Compile labor, material, equipment, subcontract, and indirect-cost inputs using approved sources and methods.
  • Solicit, organize, and document vendor and subcontractor quotations (coverage, qualifications, exclusions).
  • Identify scope gaps, design discrepancies, commercial concerns, and project risks for senior review.
  • Maintain complete estimate files including assumptions, clarifications, exclusions, and supporting documentation.
  • Meet deadlines and assist in estimate reviews, site visits, pre-bid meetings, and turnover activities.
  • Use approved estimating, takeoff, CRM, and document-management systems accurately.
  • Apply feedback and demonstrate measurable growth toward independent estimate execution.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • 0–2 years relevant estimating, construction, engineering, field, or related technical experience; entry-level candidates with applicable education or training are encouraged to apply.
  • Foundational knowledge of mechanical, structural, and light civil construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications related to:
    • Concrete and structural construction
    • Structural steel installation
    • Process piping and related industrial systems
    • Light civil/site work
  • Ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs and develop estimates for self-performed scopes.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to collaborate with project teams and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn Accubid, HeavyBid, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or comparable estimating/takeoff/CRM systems.
  • Ability to travel periodically to offices, client locations, and project sites.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability when driving is required.

Preferred:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Accubid, HeavyBid, Salesforce, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar tools.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Potential exposure to extreme temperatures, manufacturing/pipeline/refining environments, high noise levels, and strong odors.
  • Climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, lifting 1–50 pounds regularly.
  • Walking on uneven terrain (average up to ~2 miles/day), standing, sitting, stooping, crawling, and kneeling.
  • Use of respirator if required by the position.
  • Driving may be required; all drivers are subject to DMV background checks.

Compensation & Benefits

Colorado pay range: $90,000—$105,000 USD (referenced for Colorado applicants).
