What You’ll Do

This entry-level role supports production engineering teams by performing offline robot simulation and programming (OLP) to accelerate new-model introductions and reduce online programming time. You will work under mentorship to validate tooling, verify cycle times, and create deliverables that enable successful installation or handoff to suppliers.

  • Execute offline simulations for new-model processes to check tooling clearances, cycle times, and robot program downloads.
  • Validate and measure current production cycle time; identify and recommend countermeasures for improvements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Mechanical Design, and Electrical Design teams to implement OLP changes.
  • Support online teach teams (internal and contract resources) during OLP implementation and cycle time verification.
  • Create documentation and handoff packages for OLP installs or supplier transfers.
  • Contribute to unit initiatives and support group-level business objectives.

Key Responsibilities / Deliverables

  • Perform robot cell and process simulations using industry-standard simulation tools.
  • Produce cycle time estimates and validate them in 3D CAD/CAE environments.
  • Support robot program downloads and basic troubleshooting during installs.
  • Prepare clear, actionable deliverables (programs, simulation reports, tooling clearance checks).
  • Communicate progress and technical changes to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to reduce introduction risk for current production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Welding, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience; an associate degree plus relevant experience is acceptable.
  • 0–6 years of experience in robot simulation and/or robot programming, depending on education level.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc and/or Yaskawa Motoman robot programming and offline programming workflows preferred.
  • Experience with robotic/automated equipment deployment is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with a practical, hands-on approach on the plant floor.

Working Conditions

  • Combination of office and plant-floor work; must be willing to work hands-on.
  • Willingness to work shifted schedules, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
  • Travel approximately 20–25% (domestic and international).
