What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level, first-shift Environmental Technician role supporting onsite environmental and waste-management operations for a Confidential Client. You’ll perform hands-on material handling, support basic field sampling, and follow strict safety and hazardous-waste procedures.

• Transport labeled drums of waste safely and efficiently within the facility and to designated areas.
• Identify and verify the substances contained in each drum to ensure accurate handling and storage.
• Load and offload drums onto trucks using appropriate methods and equipment, following all safety procedures.
• Separate hazardous waste from non-hazardous waste and place each in the correct warehouse or storage location.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Support environmental field activities such as basic soil sampling and materials handling, as needed.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including those related to hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete daily tasks and meet operational goals.
• Participate in training opportunities, including obtaining the 40-hour HAZWOPER certification if not already held.
• Demonstrate a positive, proactive mindset and contribute to a strong safety culture.

Who We’re Looking For

Minimum qualifications — candidates who meet one of the following:

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field; OR at least one year of experience in a relevant environmental/waste-management role.
• Foundational knowledge of environmental science concepts and safe handling of hazardous materials.
• Ability to perform general labor tasks (materials handling, drum movement) and lift/carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly during a shift.
• Comfortable standing and walking over uneven surfaces for extended periods; able to work outdoors in various weather and indoors in non-climate-controlled spaces.
• Strong safety awareness and a desire to learn and grow within the environmental and waste management industry.

Nice to Have

• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (strong plus; can often be obtained on the job).
• Previous fieldwork experience (soil sampling, environmental field support).
• Prior exposure to hazardous materials handling and waste management operations.
• Demonstrated commitment to following protocols and building a long-term career in environmental services.

Work Environment & Schedule

This role is fully onsite in Hatfield, IN and operates on first shift. Work is approximately half outdoors (field tasks) and half inside warehouse/facility spaces. The job requires frequent lifting, material handling, and sustained periods on your feet. The Confidential Client emphasizes safety, provides personal protective equipment, and supports training and career advancement.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay: $21.00 per hour (range: $21.00 - $21.00/hr).
• Position type: Contract-to-hire.
