Overview

This confidential client is seeking an entry-level Environmental Specialist to support environmental program management and records transition at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (Jbphh, HI). This role contributes to environmental compliance, mission readiness, and long-term installation stewardship by assisting with regulatory coordination, inspections, permit support, and digital records management.


What You’ll Do

  • Support environmental program management, compliance reviews, reporting, and coordination with environmental program managers.
  • Apply federal, state, Department of Defense, and Air Force environmental requirements to identify risks, document issues, and support mitigation.
  • Assist with transferring environmental permits, studies, and compliance records from Navy systems to designated Air Force systems (including NexGen IT and SharePoint).
  • Catalog and maintain accurate digital environmental records in accordance with Air Force records-management standards.
  • Support authorized coordination with regulators, mission partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Assist with environmental permit applications, regulatory correspondence, inspections, and reviews.
  • Conduct or support internal environmental inspections, sampling, hazard identification, and compliance monitoring.
  • Track asbestos-containing material, lead-based paint, waste streams, wildlife observations, and facility environmental conditions.
  • Support environmental data collection, analysis, validation, and reporting.
  • Prepare technical documentation, briefings, visual products, and meeting materials for environmental councils and cross-functional teams.
  • Support environmental inputs for Activity Management Plans, DD Form 1391 packages, and other project-planning efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, biology, chemistry, or another natural science from an accredited U.S. institution.
  • Ability to successfully complete and maintain the required background investigation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required credentials and access to Air Force systems.
  • Ability to work on-site at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (Jbphh, HI).
  • Ability to comply with environmental, safety, operations security, cybersecurity, network-use, and records-management requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • Experience with environmental permitting or regulatory inspections.
  • Familiarity with environmental sampling, inspection protocols, or compliance documentation.
  • Experience working with environmental datasets or records-management systems (e.g., SharePoint, NexGen-related tools).

Location & Schedule

  • Work location: On-site at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (Jbphh, HI).
  • Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, normal business hours (local time).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated base (per posting): $47,631 per year — estimated (listed on original posting).
