Position Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Environmental Scientist to support environmental investigations, monitoring, and remediation projects in Signal Hill, CA and the surrounding Southern California region. This hybrid role combines field sampling and site oversight with office-based data management and report preparation. Travel to project sites (up to 50%) is required.
What You’ll Do
- Support environmental site investigations, monitoring programs, and remediation projects under guidance from project managers and technical leads.
- Collect environmental samples: soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, and soil vapor.
- Oversee and coordinate subcontractors (drilling, excavation, survey, laboratory services).
- Maintain accurate field records, logs, chain-of-custody forms, and photographic documentation.
- Manage, organize, and review field and laboratory data for quality and completeness.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, tables, figures, and other project deliverables.
- Contribute to development of site conceptual models and interpret environmental data.
- Follow client, regulatory, and site-specific safety requirements and maintain a strong safety culture.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
- Ability to travel up to 50% as project needs require.
- Able to work safely in outdoor environments and under varying site conditions.
- Must successfully pass motor vehicle records review, substance screening, and medical surveillance program as conditions of employment.
- U.S. citizenship required due to project requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting environmental investigations or remediation projects (internships, academic fieldwork, or prior roles).
- Familiarity with environmental sampling techniques and field documentation.
- Experience supporting soil borings, monitoring well installation, or subsurface investigations.
- Strong technical writing, data management, and Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience collaborating with environmental contractors or field teams.
- Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification a plus.
- Current First Aid/CPR training a plus.
- Commitment to safe work practices and environmental stewardship.
Compensation & Additional Details
- Salary range: USD 70,500 – USD 75,000 per year (range provided by client).
- Employment type: Full-time.
- Work model: Hybrid — combination of field and office work.
- Immediate opening; relocation assistance is not available.
- Position requires an in-person Day 1 onboarding at a client office location as a condition of employment.
- Offered compensation will be based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
- The role requires compliance with medical surveillance, substance screening, and motor vehicle record checks.
