What You’ll Do
- Assist with transportation projects by coordinating with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, planners, and surveyors
- Collect field data including soil and groundwater sampling, tree surveys, wetland assessments, protected-species surveys, and gopher tortoise relocation
- Conduct benthic resource surveys (seagrasses and corals) when required
- Analyze field and laboratory data, prepare graphics, write technical reports, and assemble environmental permit applications
- Provide technical support for local, state, and federal permitting for transportation projects (FDOT District 6 scope)
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the manager
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field
- Able to identify Florida trees and wetland plants in the field
- Comfortable collecting data in hot, remote, or swampy field conditions
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis; our client is unable to sponsor or transfer employment visas
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Knowledge of threatened and endangered species that occur in Florida
- Experience with GIS or AutoCAD
- Familiarity with Florida and federal permitting rules
- PADI or NAUI certifications preferred for certain benthic surveys
Location & Schedule
- Primary work location: Laud Lakes, FL (role supports projects in Miami‑Dade and Monroe counties)
- Remote-eligible / telecommute status with a mix of office and field work — travel to field sites and client locations required

Work Environment & Physical Demands
