Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Environmental QA Analyst (Quality Assurance Analyst I) to join a remote-friendly QA team supporting environmental data management software (EQuIS and related tools). This role focuses on functional and exploratory testing, defect reporting, and close collaboration with developers and product teams to ensure high-quality releases. This is a US-based role; the team supports remote work across the U.S.
- Estimated base salary: $65,584 per year (estimated)
Key Responsibilities
- Execute test cases and document observed outcomes consistently
- Evaluate software behavior against requirements, use cases, and end-user expectations
- Perform exploratory testing and help identify edge cases
- Contribute to test case design, test plans, and test environment setup
- Assist with writing and maintaining automated tests as team priorities permit
- Use valid test data, configurations, and environments in all testing activities
- Write clear, reproducible bug reports and assess defect severity appropriately
- Collaborate with software developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to validate features and fixes
- Track progress on assigned tasks and communicate blockers proactively
- Follow logical troubleshooting steps to isolate unexpected behaviors and interpret log files with guidance
- Participate in testing tool and process improvements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field — equivalent experience considered
- 0–2+ years of software testing experience (web, desktop, or mobile)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and apply a systematic approach to problem solving
- Comfortable working independently in a remote team environment
- Authorization to work for any U.S. employer (Confidential Client is not able to sponsor work visas at this time)
Preferred Qualifications
- ISTQB or other software testing certification
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and writing basic automated tests
- Experience with Agile methodologies
- Basic SQL skills for data validation
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms (preferably Azure)
- Familiarity with environmental data concepts and EQuIS products is a plus
