Position Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an Environmental Monitoring Technician (contract-to-hire) to support aseptic processing and controlled cleanroom environments at a manufacturing site in Maryland Heights, MO. This entry-level to early-career role performs routine environmental and microbiological monitoring in a cGMP-regulated environment and provides exposure to QC, microbiology, QA, manufacturing, and validation career paths.
What You’ll Do
The role balances floor sampling and laboratory tasks. Key responsibilities include:
- Perform routine environmental monitoring in aseptic processing areas and controlled cleanroom environments.
- Follow aseptic techniques and strict gowning protocols when sampling and testing.
- Operate environmental monitoring equipment: SAS/SMA samplers, Met One particle counters, active and passive viable air sampling, total airborne particulate sampling, viable surface monitoring, personnel monitoring, and membrane filtration for water sampling.
- Test Water for Injection (WFI) and perform gas sampling per procedures and cGMP requirements.
- Use laminar flow hoods for plate work and other microbiological procedures.
- Document all results and activities accurately in compliance with SOPs and cGMP documentation standards.
- Spend roughly 70% of time collecting samples on the manufacturing floor and 30% performing basic lab activities such as incubating and reading plates.
- Enter, track, and report monitoring data using PC/data-entry systems.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, QA, QC, and microbiology teams to support production and quality objectives.
- Work safely in cleanroom, controlled, and radioactive manufacturing environments and adhere to all regulatory requirements.
- Participate in a rotating schedule (may include first and second shifts and occasional weekends) and complete assigned monitoring tasks within required timeframes.
Required & Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field preferred.
- Entry-level to ~2 years’ relevant experience; exposure to microbiology labs or aseptic techniques strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with cGMP requirements and working in regulated manufacturing or laboratory environments.
- Hands-on or observational experience with environmental monitoring in cleanroom/controlled settings preferred.
- Ability to remain on feet for extended periods and to work in fast-paced production environments.
- Good computer and data-entry skills; strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to follow written procedures/SOPs precisely and to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Employment Type, Location & Schedule
- Employment type: Contract to Hire — Confidential Client (contractor initially; potential direct hire).
- Worksite: Fully onsite in Maryland Heights, MO.
- Schedule: Rotating shifts (first and second shifts) with occasional weekend coverage as required.
Pay & Benefits
- Rate: $22.00 per hour.
