Role summary
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Environmental Inspector to support land‑disturbing and construction projects in Williamsville, NY. This third‑party listing follows best practices for candidate clarity and compliance. The role emphasizes field inspections (SWPPP/SPDES), regulatory support, and technical documentation.
What You’ll Do
- Perform daily project inspections, including SWPPP and SPDES compliance checks.
- Monitor construction/restoration activities on site; document work and identify compliance issues.
- Communicate permit commitments and contractor obligations clearly to field teams.
- Assist in preparation of technical documents for regulatory submissions (permit applications, SWPPP, compliance summaries).
- Coordinate with environmental and regulatory specialists to maintain consistent project execution.
- Support Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policies and coordinate with HSE professionals during project phases.
- Participate in team and independent work assignments as required.
Qualifications
- Experience or coursework supporting inspections for land‑disturbing activities (SPDES, SWPPP compliance).
- Familiarity with Section 404/401 permitting, wetland and stream issues, and related technical reporting.
- Working knowledge of federal and New York state regulations governing wetlands, natural/cultural resources, and land disturbance.
- Strong technical writing, verbal communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel and SharePoint (or similar document management tools).
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Ability to manage time independently and work within established budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Education & Required Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- NYSDEC DEC 4‑hour Erosion and Sediment Control Training required prior to project start (or ability to obtain).
Skills & Tools
- SWPPP / SPDES inspection experience
- Wetland delineation awareness and permitting support
- Field documentation and photo reporting
- Familiarity with regulatory submission packages and compliance summaries
- Strong MS Office skills; SharePoint experience preferred
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Primarily field‑based with frequent outdoor work at active construction sites.
- Must be able to walk uneven terrain, inspect work areas, and spend extended periods on site.
- Safety‑oriented; adherence to HSE policies and PPE requirements is mandatory.
Compensation & Location
- Location: Williamsville, NY, United States (on‑site / field work expected)
- Estimated pay: $87,714 per year (estimated). Actual compensation will be determined by Confidential Client and may vary based on experience and location.
