What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Environmental Inspector to support land‑disturbing and permitting projects across New York State. You will work with the Environmental Services team to ensure regulatory compliance during construction and restoration activities.
- Perform daily project inspections and SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan) inspections on active construction sites.
- Communicate and coordinate with environmental and regulatory specialists to ensure consistent project execution and compliance.
- Assist in preparing technical documents for regulatory submissions, including permit applications, SWPPP documentation, and compliance summaries.
- Provide technical/regulatory support through pre‑project permitting and post‑approval construction stages.
- Monitor contractor activities and document compliance with permit commitments; notify contractors of obligations when needed.
- Maintain a consistent on‑site presence during construction and restoration to document work and flag compliance issues promptly.
- Support the implementation of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and standards during project execution.
- Participate in team and independent assignments, manage time effectively, and support project budgets as assigned.
Who You Are / Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
- Experience or familiarity with inspections for land‑disturbing activities requiring SPDES/stormwater and SWPPP compliance.
- Knowledge of Section 404/401 permitting, wetland and stream issues, and related federal/state regulatory requirements.
- Strong technical writing skills, attention to detail, and effective verbal communication.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and SharePoint; comfortable using field documentation tools.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and function as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- NYSDEC DEC 4‑hour Erosion and Sediment Control Training will be required prior to project start (or within a specified onboarding timeframe).
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range (Cheektowaga, NY): $49,100.00 - $68,700.00 annually. Final compensation is based on education, experience, and work location. This posting complies with applicable pay‑transparency laws.

Location, Schedule & Travel
- Primary location: Cheektowaga, NY (work is field‑based across project sites in the region).
- Schedule: Full time. Typical work involves frequent travel to local project sites; no extended overnight travel is required.
- This position requires regular in‑person attendance at project sites during construction and restoration phases.
