Summary

Confidential Client is recruiting a Public Health Environmental Health Specialist (levels 1, 2, or 3) to join District Two Environmental Health Services. This full-time role is based in Northlake, GA. The position includes inspections, complaint investigations, technical reviews, program implementation, and community outreach. Travel, some weekend/non-traditional hours, and submission of transcripts with application are required.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct environmental health inspections and technical reviews across programs such as Food Service, Body Art, Swimming Pools, and On-Site Sewage Management.
  • Investigate health-related complaints and recommend enforcement or corrective actions.
  • Provide education, consultation, and technical assistance to the public, regulated community, and local officials.
  • Interpret regulatory and analytical data to document compliance with State, Federal, and local environmental health laws and regulations.
  • Implement county- and district-wide compliance, monitoring, and enforcement programs.
  • Serve as a compliance officer and primary liaison between Confidential Client, regulated facilities, and other agencies.
  • For senior levels (EH Specialist 3): act as a technical specialist or lead worker, and possibly supervise or mentor other environmental health staff.

Minimum Qualifications

EHS I (Entry level)

  • Bachelor’s degree (accredited) with completion of 27 semester or 40 quarter hours in laboratory sciences (e.g., chemistry, biology, geology, physics).
  • Under supervision, performs inspections, interviews, and technical reviews; additional training/experience may be required to reach full proficiency.

EHS II

  • Bachelor’s degree with 40 quarter hours (or 27 semester hours) in laboratory sciences AND one year of experience at the lower level (or equivalent).

EHS III

  • Bachelor’s degree with 40 quarter hours (or 27 semester hours) in laboratory sciences AND one year of experience at the lower level PH Environmental Compliance Specialist 2 (or equivalent) AND completion of the GA EH training program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health.
  • 3+ years’ experience in Environmental Health (for senior roles).
  • GA EH Training Program completion.
  • Standardization on the Georgia Food Code.
  • On-Site Sewage Management System Certifications (level I & II, if assigned).
  • ServSafe certification.
  • Completion of NIMS 100, 200, 700, & 800.
  • Experience with data entry systems and field electronic applications (e.g., Digital Health Department systems).
  • Public relations or community outreach experience.

  • Salary range (posted): $46,612.20 – $55,964.50 per year.
