Responsibilities
The Confidential Client is hiring an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer to promote a safe, environmentally compliant manufacturing site. You will partner with operations and leadership to maintain compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate environmental and safety requirements and drive continuous improvement.
- Facilitate and communicate Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) programs and policies.
- Develop and implement Corporate EHS policies, standards, and procedures.
- Maintain and manage the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) system; ensure new materials have appropriate SDSs and required training.
- Assess chemical safety and environmental requirements before new materials/products are brought onsite.
- Lead or support facility and equipment layout projects from an EHS perspective.
- Establish and uphold Material Handling and hazardous materials programs.
- Lead Emergency Response programs and provide onsite emergency leadership as needed.
- Conduct ergonomic evaluations and implement improvements.
- Support ISO 14001/45001 (or similar) programs and internal audits; ensure timely corrective actions.
- Manage hazardous waste, environmental permits, waste reduction initiatives, and related environmental programs.
- Implement safety programs that build an inter-dependent safety culture.
- Mentor and coach subject matter experts and site leaders on assigned safety programs.
- Develop and deliver EHS training; maintain EHS records and training documentation.
- Respond to incidents, investigate accidents, recommend corrective & preventive actions.
- Coordinate EHS metrics reporting, tracking, and trend analysis; help set annual injury-reduction targets and drive the Safety Annual Plan.
- Assist with EHS data platform management and related reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or closely related).
- Experience in a safety role within a manufacturing or distribution environment (internship, co‑op, or full‑time experience is valued).
- Demonstrated record of improving processes and influencing cross-functional teams.
- Working knowledge of SDS management, hazardous waste handling, and industrial safety practices.
Preferred / Desired
- Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (or similar management systems).
- Hands-on experience leading internal audits, incident investigations, and EHS training programs.
- Familiarity with ergonomic assessment methods, emergency response leadership, and environmental permitting.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range (full-time): $74,756.00 - $102,790.00.
- Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates located more than 50 miles from the work location.
