Position summary
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Environmental / Water Resources / Civil Engineer to join a Water Services team in Portland, OR. This role supports design and implementation of water and wastewater projects, including treatment facilities, sewer systems, pipelines, and related infrastructure. This is a full-time, entry-level position (0 years experience) with limited travel (≈10% or less).
What You’ll Do
- Support design and analysis of water and wastewater treatment facilities, sewer systems, pipelines, and related site infrastructure.
- Perform site assessments, collect and analyze field or model data, and support water quality analyses and hydraulic modeling.
- Assist with preparation of technical reports, calculations, engineering drawings, specifications, and client deliverables.
- Use engineering software and tools (ArcGIS, HEC‑RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel, etc.) to create documents, maps, and presentations.
- Contribute to client meetings, internal reviews, and industry presentations as part of project teams.
- Participate in fieldwork and construction support activities as needed to gain full project lifecycle experience.
- Work under direct supervision with mentorship and training to develop technical skills and professional licensure readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Help develop design layouts, hydraulic calculations, and basis-of-design documentation.
- Prepare and edit technical text, tables, figures, and presentation materials.
- Run and support hydraulic/hydrologic or water quality models and interpret results.
- Coordinate with colleagues across disciplines to ensure designs meet regulations and client needs.
- Maintain project documentation and follow quality assurance processes.
Skills & Abilities
- Basic knowledge of computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) and 2D/3D drafting practices.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS, HEC‑RAS, EPA SWMM, or similar modeling tools preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills; able to support technical writing and client-facing materials.
- Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and ability to work effectively in teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering, Water Resources, or closely related discipline.
- Entry-level: 0 years of professional experience acceptable; internships or relevant academic projects are beneficial.
- Equivalent directly related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required (typically 10% or less).
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this position in the United States.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range (good-faith estimate for Portland, OR): USD $64,813 — USD $106,954 per year.
