What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Security Analyst to join a public-sector IT security team. This role will be fully onsite in Cayce, SC and focused on strengthening the organization’s security posture through monitoring, detection, and response. The position includes training and hands-on development of core security skills.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze threat intelligence feeds; document and share findings.
- Perform threat hunting and help create detection rules (SIEM, EDR).
- Review logs from firewalls, endpoints, and servers to identify indicators of compromise (IOCs).
- Assist with incident triage and response following established frameworks (e.g., NIST, MITRE ATT&CK).
- Document incidents, produce reports, and maintain process documentation.
- Support vulnerability management and patch prioritization efforts.
- Develop and deliver security awareness training and simulations.
- Use and develop automation/scripting (SCCM, GPO, PowerShell) to streamline security tasks.
- Configure and monitor endpoint and network protection tools.
- Participate in basic digital forensics and learn cloud security practices as needed.
Who We’re Looking For
Required (minimum):
- Understanding of core security concepts and processes.
- Basic computer and network fundamentals.
- High school diploma or equivalent; willing to learn on the job.
- Must be a current South Carolina resident and able to work fully onsite in Cayce, SC.
- Willingness to complete required pre-employment screenings and sign an NDA when requested.
- Availability for required weekend evening coverage following training (see schedule below).
Preferred:
- 1+ year server or network administration experience.
- 1+ year in an IT security–focused role or internship.
- Familiarity with SIEM tools and endpoint protection platforms.
- Experience with PowerShell, Group Policy, SCCM or similar endpoint management tools.
- Knowledge of vulnerability management and cloud security basics.
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field is a plus.
- Relevant certs prioritized (not required): Security+, Network+, GSEC, GCIH.
Additional skills:
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset.
- Clear written and verbal communication; ability to write reports and guides.
- Ability to work effectively within a mid-size team.
Schedule, Location & Contract Details
- Work location: Fully onsite in Cayce, SC. No remote or hybrid options.
- Start date: 11/16/2026 (anticipated).
- Duration: 12-month contract with possibility of extension.
- Interviews: 1–2 rounds (virtual or onsite). Candidates should be available for onsite interviews.
- Shift requirements: Availability for Saturday and Sunday evening coverage is mandatory after training. Typical weekend coverage: 8:00 PM–8:00 AM (two 12-hour shifts). Dayshifts may include Wednesday and Thursday (8:30 AM–2:45 PM).
- Candidate residency: Must be a current South Carolina resident; no relocation offered.
Pre-employment Requirements
The selected candidate must successfully complete the following prior to or during onboarding:
- 7-year standard criminal background check and credit history check.
- 7-year certified driving record (MVR).
- 5-panel drug screen.
- State fingerprinting — fingerprinting must be done in South Carolina at least 5 business days before the start date.
