About the Role

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking an analytically driven, early-career Entry Private Markets Analyst to join a private markets / lower middle‑market private equity team in Manhattan, NY. This is a hands-on opportunity to develop financial modeling, due diligence, and portfolio monitoring skills while supporting live transactions and portfolio companies.


What You’ll Do

  • Support creation and maintenance of basic to intermediate financial models (operating models, DCFs, introductory LBOs)
  • Analyze returns, capital structures, and scenario sensitivities
  • Perform valuation work using comparable companies, precedent transactions, and simplified intrinsic methods
  • Assist with financial, commercial, and operational diligence workstreams
  • Conduct industry, market, and competitor research to support investment theses
  • Compile and summarize third‑party diligence findings and vendor reports
  • Prepare exhibits, investment memos, and presentation materials for internal review
  • Help organize diligence findings, key assumptions, and risk factors for investment committee materials
  • Track portfolio company performance and maintain KPI dashboards
  • Support analysis for operational initiatives, bolt‑on opportunities, refinancings, and exit scenarios
  • Provide analytical support throughout the deal lifecycle, from sourcing diligence to post‑close monitoring

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills; comfortable working with financial data and models
  • Foundational understanding of accounting, corporate finance, and valuation concepts
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, coachable mindset, and willingness to learn in a fast‑paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables under tight deadlines

Preferred (but not required)

  • Prior internships, coursework, or project experience in investing, private equity, investment banking, consulting, or corporate strategy
  • Demonstrated interest in private markets, transaction work, or operational improvement projects
  • Familiarity with PowerPoint for investment committee presentations and basic data visualization

Compensation & Location

  • Location: Manhattan, NY (hybrid arrangements may be available depending on the confidential client)
  • Type: Full‑time
  • Typical total compensation range (representative): $140,000 — $185,000+ (varies by employer and level). Exact pay and benefits will be provided by the hiring organization at offer stage in accordance with applicable law.
