What You’ll Do
We are hiring an Entry Level Water/Wastewater Engineer to join Confidential Client’s water resources team in Reston, VA. In this early-career role you’ll contribute to municipal and industrial water and wastewater projects, applying classroom knowledge to real-world mechanical, process, and hydraulic design tasks.
- Support process mechanical and hydraulic design for drinking water and wastewater treatment projects
- Assist with unit-process evaluations, process flow diagrams, and preliminary design calculations
- Run basic hydraulic analyses and support modeling efforts
- Prepare CAD/GIS drawings and support production of construction documents
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams and contribute to client communications
- Learn and apply firm software tools and project workflows under mentorship
- Participate in site visits, data collection, and construction support as needed
Who You Are / Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (completed or imminent) in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering
- Coursework emphasizing civil/environmental engineering, water/wastewater treatment, or construction engineering
- Conceptual familiarity with process mechanical design and common drinking/wastewater unit processes and technologies
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving mindset
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work on diverse teams
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred / Helpful Experience
- Experience or coursework in hydraulic analysis
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS tools
- Internship or hands-on experience with municipal or industrial water/wastewater systems (including “inside the fence” plant work)
- Familiarity with design software or willingness to learn proprietary engineering tools
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and resolve conflict in team settings
Compensation & Location
- Location: Reston, VA (onsite / hybrid expectations will be determined by the client)
- Estimated pay (source post): $70,434 per year — final pay and benefits determined by Confidential Client and subject to candidate experience and applicable laws
