What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an Entry Level Water Resources Engineer to join their Gainesville, VA office. In this role you will work on water resources engineering projects including design, analysis, and studies related to stormwater and surface water systems.
- Develop concept and final designs for stormwater facilities and treatment systems
- Perform floodplain studies and hydraulic/hydrologic analyses
- Analyze stormwater quality and runoff controls
- Design stream restoration and natural channel solutions
- Assist with dam design, dam retrofit projects and dam-break analyses
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings, and permitting documentation
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams and support project managers on client deliverables
- Communicate technical findings clearly to internal teams and external stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (focus in Water Resources or related field)
- 0–1 years of professional experience; relevant internships or co-ops preferred
- Knowledge of floodplain delineation, stormwater management, culvert/bridge hydraulics, and drainage design
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Note: The job title references security clearance. Candidates should be prepared to discuss any current clearance status; some roles may require the ability to obtain or maintain a required clearance.
Nice to Have / Technical Skills
- Familiarity with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XP-SWMM, or similar hydraulic/hydrologic modeling tools
- Experience with stormwater quality modeling and BMP design
- AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar drafting/CAD experience
- Prior internship or academic project experience in water resources engineering
Compensation & Benefits
- Projected salary range: $82,500 – $85,000 annually (range provided by Confidential Client; actual pay depends on skills, experience, location, and market factors)
