What You’ll Do

The Confidential Client is hiring an Entry Level Transportation Planner to support transportation planning projects serving Virginia clients. You will work on multi-modal planning, corridor and feasibility studies, service development, and other planning tasks under the direction of a project manager or senior planner.

  • Work with the Transportation practice to deliver transportation planning and engineering projects.
  • Support development and management of corridor studies, feasibility studies, mobility plans, conceptual design documents, and service development plans.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze transportation and transit data to support recommendations.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement activities including meetings and public workshops.
  • Attend project meetings and coordinate with internal teams, subconsultants, and client staff.
  • Prepare clear technical reports, memos, and client-ready presentations to communicate findings.
  • Provide general support to planning staff and help develop deliverables on schedule.

Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public policy, geography, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary teams and support development of technical documents and drawings.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Experience using GIS for mapping and spatial analysis.
  • Experience handling large datasets and producing visualizations (tables, charts, maps).
  • Coursework or internships related to transportation planning, transit, or multimodal planning.
  • Strong technical writing skills and ability to develop work plans and document technical discussions.

Compensation & Location

  • Estimated salary: $60,112 per year (estimated).
  • Location: Reston, VA (on-site or hybrid as defined by the client).
  • Employment type: Full-time.
