What You’ll Do

As an Entry-Level Transportation Engineer on the Traffic/Technology team with our confidential client, you will support traffic engineering and transportation design projects focusing on safety, operations, and multimodal mobility. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Prepare CAD-based traffic and roadway design plans (signals, signing, pavement markings, roundabouts, temporary traffic control).
  • Assist with traffic operations studies, capacity analyses, and safety evaluations.
  • Support traffic signal design and signal timing projects.
  • Help analyze traffic data, evaluate operational performance, and recommend improvements.
  • Support Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and street-lighting analysis tasks.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and public/private clients to deliver project documentation and design deliverables.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum qualifications and what will make you successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (transportation emphasis preferred).
  • 0–4 years of engineering experience (Dec 2026 or May 2027 graduates encouraged to apply).
  • Engineer Intern (EI) certificate obtained or ability to obtain.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Interest in improving community transportation systems and a willingness to learn technical traffic engineering tasks.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Confidential Client provides reasonable accommodations in accordance with applicable law.

Nice to Have

Relevant skills and experience that strengthen an application:

  • Experience or coursework related to traffic signal design and timing.
  • Familiarity with pavement marking and signing design principles.
  • Exposure to ITS concepts, pedestrian circulation studies, or roundabout design.
  • Any hands-on experience with traffic data collection or analysis tools.

  • Estimated compensation: $80,469 per year (estimated; actual pay may vary).
