Position overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Entry‑Level Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Engineer to join their Energy & Power team in Boston, MA. This early‑career role provides hands‑on exposure to substation and distribution system projects, power‑system modeling, protection and control strategies, and interdisciplinary design work under the guidance of licensed engineers and senior staff.


What You’ll Do

  • Support design and delivery of transmission and distribution substation and distribution system projects
  • Perform condition assessments, feasibility and master‑plan studies, and detailed design support
  • Model power systems to evaluate load flow, short‑circuit, and arc‑flash hazards
  • Assist development of relay protection strategies and coordination studies
  • Contribute to grounding and lightning protection design activities
  • Prepare equipment specifications, drawings, and interdisciplinary coordination documentation
  • Participate in construction oversight and support site activities as needed
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to project teams and clients

Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship (Visa sponsorship is not available for this role)
  • Strong fundamentals or coursework in power system analysis, protection & control, and substation design principles
  • Demonstrated ability to learn power‑system modeling and engineering design workflows
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in teams

Preferred qualifications

  • Internship or prior experience with a utility or work on high‑voltage systems
  • Experience with power‑system modeling software such as ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or similar
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, NavisWorks or other 3D modeling/viewing tools
  • Exposure to protection relay settings, coordination studies, and arc‑flash analysis

Compensation & Location

  • Estimated base salary: $59,001 per year (estimated)
  • Location: Boston, MA (on‑site / client projects as required)
  • Employment type: Full‑time
