About the role

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Traffic / Transportation Engineer to join a Raleigh-area team supporting transportation systems and safety projects across public, private, and institutional markets. This is a hands-on role ideal for a 2027 graduate or early-career engineer who wants to build practical skills in traffic operations, signal timing, intersection and corridor analysis, and multimodal safety assessments.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team to develop traffic and transportation engineering solutions for municipal, state, higher-education, federal, and aviation projects
• Perform intersection and corridor operational analyses using tools like Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, Sidra, VISSIM, and/or TransModeler
• Analyze and evaluate traffic improvement concepts and alternative solutions
• Support conceptual intersection/roadway and traffic signal design using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
• Develop traffic management and signal timing plans
• Collect, tabulate, and analyze traffic data; prepare clear written summaries and technical reports
• Conduct field traffic safety assessments and support corridor and access management studies

• Understanding of transportation and traffic engineering principles
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficiency with common engineering software and strong general computer skills
• Detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to learn quickly
• Critical thinking and problem-solving aptitude
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• 0–1 years of transportation experience preferred (traffic or safety experience is a plus)
• Familiarity with Synchro/SimTraffic, Sidra, VISSIM, TransModeler, or other capacity analysis tools is beneficial
• Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation is a plus
• EIT designation is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

• Full-time annual base salary range for this position, located in North Carolina: $76,000 to $79,000. Base pay will be determined based on job-related factors permitted by law (experience, credentials, skills, geography, etc.). The posted range reflects base pay only.
• Additional total rewards may include incentive bonuses, retirement plan participation, medical/dental/vision, life and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, wellness programs, and other recognition programs.
