What You’ll Do
This entry-level Traffic Engineer role supports roadway and transit projects and offers hands-on experience across traffic studies, analyses, signal design, ITS, and lighting work. You will join a project team and support design, modeling, and construction-phase tasks.
- Work with engineers, planners, and technicians on roadway and transit projects
- Perform field investigations and assist with traffic analyses, design, and construction support
- Learn planning and design aspects of traffic and roadway projects
- Prepare construction cost estimates and quantities
- Design traffic signals and signal timing per agency standards
- Prepare traffic signal plans and documentation
- Learn or apply traffic modeling techniques
- Use or develop skills on tools such as Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, AIMSUN, CUBE, TransCAD, and ARCGIS
Note: This position title references security clearance. Candidates with an existing security clearance are preferred; the role may require the ability to obtain/maintain clearance depending on project needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Electrical Engineering
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
- 0–3 years of relevant traffic engineering experience (entry-level)
- Familiarity with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and wireless communications is a plus
- Exposure to NJDOT, NJTA, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, and/or PANYNJ project standards is helpful but not required
- Strong interest in traffic signal design, traffic modeling, and hands-on engineering work
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate on multidisciplinary teams

Compensation & Location
- Location: Bloomfield, NJ (onsite / local) — authoritative job location
- Employment type: Full-time
- Salary range (projected): $84,000 - $86,500 annually (provided by Confidential Client)
- Work authorization: At this time, Confidential Client will not sponsor a new applicant for work authorization
