Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a motivated Entry‑Level Traction Power Engineer to join its Transportation engineering team in William Penn Annex East, PA. This is an early‑career, full‑time role with a hybrid work model and an invitation‑only hiring event in Philadelphia on October 7–8, 2026.
What You’ll Do
The role is hands‑on and learning‑focused. Responsibilities include:
- Assist senior engineers in design and analysis of traction power distribution systems (substations, overhead catenary systems, third rail).
- Support development of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts using CAD tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation).
- Perform calculations for voltage drop, current flow, short‑circuit and power system performance.
- Help prepare technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
- Conduct field inspections and site visits to collect data and observe construction activities.
- Assist with testing, commissioning, and preparation of as‑built drawings and documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders to ensure project deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NESC, IEEE).
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Preferred qualifications:
- Coursework or project experience in power systems; interest in traction/railway systems.
- Familiarity with AC and DC power concepts and circuit analysis.
- Exposure to power system analysis tools (ETAP, SKM PowerTools) is a plus.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar drafting software preferred.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working both independently and in teams; quick learner.
- EIT certification is a plus.
Compensation & Work Model
- Salary range: USD 75,000 – USD 85,000 per year (range provided by Confidential Client).
- Employment type: Full‑time.
- Work model: Hybrid — requires scheduled in‑office days in William Penn Annex East, PA; local presence required.
- Relocation assistance: Not available.
- Visa sponsorship: Not available now or in the future.
- Note: All newly hired employees are required to attend an in‑person Day 1 onboarding at a Confidential Client office location as a condition of employment.
