What You’ll Do

Under the guidance of licensed engineers and senior technical staff, you will support delivery of transmission, distribution, and substation projects. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Support design and delivery of high‑voltage transmission and distribution substation projects
  • Perform condition assessments of existing systems and contribute to feasibility and master‑plan studies
  • Produce detailed electrical design deliverables and equipment specifications for substations, distribution systems, and power generation facilities
  • Assist with construction oversight and interdisciplinary coordination during project execution
  • Model power systems to evaluate load flow, short‑circuit, and arc‑flash hazards
  • Help develop relay protection strategies and protection & control documentation
  • Contribute to lightning protection and grounding design activities
  • Use 3D modeling/viewing tools for design coordination and review
  • Communicate technical findings clearly with project teams and clients

What We’re Looking For

Minimum requirements (must-have):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program
  • Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future (Visa sponsorship is not available for this role)
  • Strong foundational coursework in power systems, electrical machinery, or related subjects

Required knowledge and skills:

  • Foundational understanding of power system analysis and substation design principles (HV, MV, LV)
  • Familiarity with high‑voltage equipment (transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers)
  • Exposure to protection and control concepts and relay coordination
  • Basic competence with 2D/3D drafting or modeling tools (AutoCAD, Revit, NavisWorks, CADWorx) or willingness to learn
  • Ability to learn system modeling tools such as SKM Power Tools or ETAP

Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have

  • Internship or co‑op experience at a utility, EPC, or with high‑voltage equipment
  • Hands‑on experience with ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or similar power‑system modeling software
  • Experience with protective relay settings or relay testing
  • Strong problem solving, teamwork, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Interest in sustainable energy and grid modernization projects
