Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Entry Level System Engineer (full-time) to support defense-focused systems engineering activities in Highland Bch, MD. This role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph. You will analyze user requirements and high-level architectures, contribute to systems engineering documentation, and support system integration and test planning under government oversight.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze user requirements, CONOPS, and system architectures to develop system requirements specifications
  • Contribute to System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents
  • Manage system and derived requirements to ensure compatibility with defined architectures (e.g., DoDAF, SOA)
  • Assist in decomposing functional requirements into hardware, software, facility, and personnel allocations
  • Support system integration and test planning; prepare or review System Engineering Management Plans and Test & Integration Plans
  • Coordinate cross-discipline resolution of action items from CCBs, design reviews, and test reviews
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and system design artifacts
  • Communicate technical status and issues with program personnel, government overseers, and senior leadership

Clearance & Location

  • Requires active TS/SCI with polygraph (poly) — candidates without required clearance will not be considered
  • Work location: Highland Bch, MD (on-site or as required by program)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university — OR five (5) years of systems engineering experience in lieu of a degree
  • Demonstrated experience or coursework in systems engineering: requirements development, interface control, and architecture alignment
  • Familiarity with DoD architecture frameworks (DoDAF) and service-oriented/system architecture concepts
  • Strong technical writing skills for developing engineering documentation and technical deliverables
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines and with government stakeholders
  • Clear verbal communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred / Helpful Skills

  • Experience with system integration, verification, and validation planning
  • Prior experience supporting government or defense programs
  • Exposure to configuration control processes and CCB workflows
