What You’ll Do

You will join a substation team contributing to planning and design efforts across the project lifecycle. Typical responsibilities include:

• Support multidisciplinary coordination for site evaluation, planning, and infrastructure integration
• Contribute technical input to proposals and scope definitions
• Assist in planning, design, procurement, and construction support for substation projects
• Coordinate with utilities, vendors, internal teams, and other stakeholders
• Participate in site visits and field activities to validate design assumptions
• Support project schedules, deliverables, and budget tracking
• Perform substation design tasks such as one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, grounding, lightning protection, and basic SCADA integration
• Prepare general arrangements, sections, bills of materials, and cable/conduit plans
• Help develop equipment specifications and liaise with vendors
• Follow QA/QC procedures; verify accuracy of deliverables and documentation
• Produce technical reports, calculations, and design documentation
• Work collaboratively with senior engineers and project leads and follow applicable codes and standards

Who You Are

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field
• Ability to perform engineering calculations and read/interpret technical documents
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to manage assignments with moderate supervision and meet project schedules
• Demonstrated problem-solving aptitude and attention to detail
• Willingness to work project-driven schedules that may extend beyond a typical workweek
• Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and conduct policies
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Occasional travel may be required for site visits

Preferred qualifications:

• EIT certification and progress toward PE licensure

Compensation & Benefits

• Expected salary range (all locations): $71,700 - $87,700 per year
• Comprehensive benefits typically include medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement savings, paid leave (vacation, sick, parental), and other standard employee benefits

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

• Primary location: Syracuse, NY
• This role involves office and field activities; occasional travel to project sites may be required.
