Overview — Confidential Client (Engineering)
Confidential Client is hiring an Entry‑Level Structural Engineer (Advanced Analysis) to join a technical team focused on engineering mechanics, structural analysis, and finite element modeling. This is an entry-level, full‑time position based in South Waltham, MA. The role emphasizes hands‑on learning, FEA work (Abaqus/ANSYS), MATLAB/Mathcad calculations, and field inspections under supervision.
What You’ll Do
- Perform structural analyses and design tasks under supervision.
- Support design and repair work for building and non‑building structures (e.g., buildings, bridges, pipelines, tanks, rail vehicles, precision structures).
- Execute linear and nonlinear finite element analyses using Abaqus, ANSYS, or similar tools.
- Run engineering calculations using MATLAB, Mathcad or equivalent tools.
- Participate on project teams; prepare reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, and client communications.
- Assist with proposals, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Review work by technicians and drafters and support lab testing and field inspections.
- Travel as needed for site inspections and investigations (under supervision).
What You’ll Need
- 0–2 years of professional experience in structural engineering or engineering mechanics.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering Mechanics, Structural Engineering, Civil, Mechanical, or a closely related discipline with emphasis in structural analysis, structural dynamics, and/or engineering mechanics.
- Coursework or experience in finite element analysis (FEA) is preferred.
- Proficiency with programming for engineering tasks (examples: Python, VBA).
- Familiarity with MATLAB and Mathcad for engineering calculations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally with technical staff and clients.
- Ability and willingness to travel for supervised field inspections.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report, if applicable.
- Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) registration within five years.

Compensation & Sign‑On Bonus
This posting includes the employer’s good‑faith salary estimate in accordance with pay‑transparency requirements. Actual pay depends on education, experience, and location.
- Bachelor’s Degree: $79,560 – $81,640 per year
- Master’s Degree: $83,200 – $85,280 per year
This position is eligible for a $5,000 sign‑on bonus.
Location & Travel
- Work location: South Waltham, MA (on-site with potential travel for field inspections).
- This role requires occasional travel to project sites for supervised inspections and testing.
