What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineer to support manufacturing and construction engineering at the Quonset Point facility (North Kingstown, RI). This hands-on role partners with production trades and engineering teams to develop practical designs and tooling used directly in production and assembly of VPM submarine components.

  • Support design development and production engineering for lifting and handling fixtures and special tooling
  • Develop lifting & handling arrangements and drawings; support heavy‑load transporter and crane operations
  • Create build strategies, risk‑mitigation plans, and production support documentation
  • Assist in implementation and validation of tooling and fabrication processes on the shop floor
  • Work with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, QA, trades) to transition designs from concept to use
  • Document technical decisions and update engineering and manufacturing records

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Civil (Structural) Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • 0–4 years post‑graduate engineering experience (entry level to early professional)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance (must be eligible)
  • Demonstrated communication skills — able to convey technical information clearly to trades and engineers
  • Willingness to work in a dynamic, hands‑on construction/manufacturing environment

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience or familiarity with submarine design, naval construction, or heavy industrial manufacturing
  • Knowledge of lifting/handling methods and structural fabrication techniques
  • Experience with NX, Teamcenter, SOLIDWORKS, and/or AutoCAD for 3D model work and 2D drawing development
  • Familiarity with manufacturing engineering documents, lifting & handling procedures, or similar process documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to multi‑task and manage small technical projects

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Typical site activities include climbing, crawling, kneeling, light lifting, reaching, stooping, and twisting
  • Work environment may include cold, dry, dusty, hot, noisy, indoor and outdoor conditions
  • This role is primarily on-site at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI
