Position overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring an Entry-level Engineer, Structural Engineering for the Chicago, IL office. This is a full-time role for recent graduates holding a Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering who are passionate about structural design, investigation, and rehabilitation of buildings and other constructed works.


What You’ll Do

The Structures Division provides structural engineering services emphasizing new design, repair and rehabilitation, investigation, and performance evaluation of structures. As an entry-level engineer you will:

  • Perform structural analysis and design tasks for steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures
  • Assist senior staff with on-site investigations to document existing conditions and identify root causes
  • Support preparation of drawings, specifications, and design calculations
  • Aid senior staff during construction administration and observe/assist with construction-related activities
  • Participate in team reviews and technical discussions; learn and apply industry best practices

What You’ll Need

  • MS in Civil or Structural Engineering (required)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • FE/EIT certification (preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and solid analytical/judgment capabilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage assigned tasks
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software preferred (e.g., ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, SAFE)
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report
  • Curiosity, a teachable mindset, and strong problem-solving skills

Compensation & Benefits

This role is eligible for a sign-on bonus and a competitive base salary within the ranges below (good-faith estimate pursuant to applicable pay-transparency laws). Actual salary will depend on experience, qualifications, and work location.

  • Bachelor’s Degree: $79,560 - $81,640 per year
  • Master’s Degree: $83,200 - $85,280 per year
  • Eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus
