What You’ll Do

As an Entry Level Structural Engineer (Ports & Maritime) for our confidential client, you will join a Northwest-based regional team delivering waterfront and transportation projects. You’ll support design, analysis, and delivery of marine infrastructure—from small marinas to large international port developments—working with senior engineers and subject-matter experts.

  • Assist in the structural design and analysis of marine structures: piers, wharves, transfer bridges, gangways, bulkheads, breakwaters, floating docks and marinas.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and calculation packages (Excel, MathCAD, FEA outputs).
  • Apply relevant codes and standards (ASCE, AASHTO, ACI, AISC, IBC, NDS, PIANC) to analysis and design tasks.
  • Support site inspections, condition assessments, QA/QC activities, and data collection at project sites.
  • Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, constructible solutions.
  • Contribute to proposals, quantity takeoffs, and engineer’s cost estimates.
  • Learn from and be mentored by senior engineers; pursue growth opportunities within a global Ports & Maritime practice.

What We’re Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong interest in marine, waterfront, or port engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of structural analysis and design principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and common PDF tools (Bluebeam, Adobe).
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future.

Nice to Have (Preferred / Ideal Experience)

  • Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Internship, co-op, or 0–2 years of hands-on structural engineering experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or preparing design drawings.
  • Familiarity with finite-element analysis software (SAP2000, RISA3D, STAAD, LPile).
  • Knowledge of port operations, landside infrastructure, or marine-specific construction methods.

Location & Work Model

  • Primary location: Bellevue, WA (regional work may include projects in Alaska, Oregon, Hawaii, South America, and remote South Pacific locations).
  • Hybrid home/office schedule; some travel to job sites required.

Compensation (Estimated)

  • Estimated annual salary: $68,823 (estimated). Actual pay may vary based on experience, location, and other factors.

Why Join This Team

  • Hands-on exposure to diverse marine engineering projects and materials (steel, aluminum, concrete, timber, earth).
  • Mentorship from experienced subject-matter experts in a large global Ports & Maritime practice.
  • Accelerated professional development in a fast-growing engineering discipline.
