Why This Role Matters

Confidential Client is hiring an Entry-Level (Staff) Engineer to join their Tampa-area practice serving infrastructure, dam, and geotechnical projects. This role is a hands-on opportunity to develop field, laboratory, and design skills while working alongside senior engineers on projects that protect communities and natural resources.

What You’ll Do

• Apply engineering principles and numerical models to support the design and evaluation of dams, hydraulic structures, and civil infrastructure under senior supervision.
• Support planning and execution of subsurface explorations using GIS and GPS.
• Log borings and groundwater wells and assign/review laboratory testing.
• Perform field inspections of construction and hydraulic/geotechnical structures.
• Support instrumentation monitoring and collect field measurements.
• Provide oversight of subcontractors (drillers, traffic control, etc.).
• Prepare CAD drawings, plans, and figures using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS.
• Assist with construction documents, specifications, and technical reports.
• Perform engineering calculations and modeling for spillways, outlet works, diversion structures, and related raw-water infrastructure.
• Plan and coordinate geotechnical and materials-testing fieldwork.

Qualifications

Required

• 0–2 years of relevant professional experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Positive team attitude and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness and ability to perform fieldwork and travel, including extended assignments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, enter trenches, climb ladders, and work safely on construction sites.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.

Preferred

• Prior internship or professional experience in geotechnical, construction, or civil engineering.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or GIS.
• EIT certification or progress toward licensure.
• Master’s degree (a plus).

Compensation & Location

• Position type: Full time (Contractor engagement may apply per posting).
• Location: Palma Ceia, FL (Tampa area). Candidates should be able to travel and work on-site as required.
• Compensation range: $68,000 to $95,000 per year (range provided by our client). Final pay will be based on experience, location, and other factors.
