What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an Entry Level Geotechnical Staff Engineer to join their geotechnical team supporting water and infrastructure projects across the Northeast. In this hands-on role you’ll support field investigations, engineering analyses, and technical reporting while learning from experienced geotechnical professionals.
- Work under supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer to plan, schedule, conduct, and document geotechnical investigations (borings, test pits) and log soil, rock and groundwater conditions
- Prepare subsurface exploration logs and assist in laboratory/data review to determine subsurface conditions and material properties
- Help prepare geotechnical reports with design recommendations and analysis
- Perform foundation design checks, slope-stability analyses, and settlement calculations
- Assist with cost estimates, construction specifications and other project deliverables
- Support construction monitoring activities, including geotechnical observation and inspection
- Collaborate with civil, structural, and environmental teams; communicate technical findings to project teams and clients
- Maintain accurate field and project records, data, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations and project specifications
What We’re Looking For
Candidates should demonstrate a strong academic background, curiosity, and a willingness to learn on-the-job.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering (or related engineering degree)
- Relevant internship or early-career experience in engineering design, consulting, or construction observation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical and problem-solving aptitude
- Self-motivated, organized, and eager to learn from senior staff
- Willingness to travel to project sites and perform fieldwork across the Northeast region
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree with geotechnical concentration
- Familiarity with geotechnical software (examples: SLIDE, SLOPEW, SETTLE3, SupportIT, LPile, GRLWEAP)
- 1+ years of relevant internship or full-time geotechnical experience
- FE / EIT certification completed or planned within 6 months
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: USD $64,668 — USD $84,877 per year (compensation commensurate with skills & experience)
- Employment type: Full-time (contractor engagements may occur depending on project needs)
