Position Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Hybrid Entry Level Staff Accountant (Accounts Receivable focus) for a Contract-to-Hire role in Urbandale, IA. This role supports collections and reporting activities, works with onshore and offshore teams, and requires a detail-oriented, collaborative candidate with intermediate Excel skills.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with development, documentation, and improvement of collections and reporting procedures
- Collect outstanding invoices while maintaining positive client relationships
- Provide guidance and feedback to offshore Collections team members
- Analyze past-due trends and produce reporting to identify risk and root causes of non-payment
- Collaborate with onshore Cash Application and Collections team members to improve process efficiency
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and SOX procedures
Essential Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, finance, or a related area
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookup functions, basic formulas)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Team player with the ability to work with cross-functional and offshore teams
- Attention to detail and ability to problem-solve
Preferred / Additional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
- Prior experience with reporting, process improvement, or project work
- Familiarity with SOX controls and compliance (helpful)
Work Environment & Schedule
- Hybrid position based in Urbandale, IA
- Initial 4–8 weeks of in-office training, then hybrid schedule with required in-office days: every Tuesday and every other Monday
- Contract-to-Hire employment type; potential for direct hire by the Confidential Client after successful contract period
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour (compensation offered will depend on experience, skills, and other job-related factors)
