Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Entry Level Software Engineer to join a Passenger Experiences team building connected vehicle applications for in-vehicle infotainment systems. This is a hybrid, full-time contractor role based in Warren, MI. You will work with senior engineers to design, implement, test, and release HMI/mobile applications for vehicle infotainment while developing your technical skills in Android, Kotlin/Java, and modern CI/CD and testing practices.


Work Arrangement & Sponsorship

  • Hybrid — expected to report to the Warren, MI office at least three days per week (or as dictated by the business).

What You’ll Do

  • Assist in the design and development of HMI/mobile applications for the in‑vehicle infotainment system.
  • Implement efficient, well-structured, optimized, and documented source code with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Participate in architecture, requirements, design, code, and test-case reviews; contribute feedback and learn best practices.
  • Create and maintain documentation aligned with the software development process.
  • Support cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve software integration issues within vehicle systems.
  • Work within an Agile/Scrum team—Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Retrospectives—to deliver high-quality software.
  • Follow engineering processes that ensure quality and conformance to architecture and safety requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Graduation date between December 2025 and August 2026.
  • Academic, project, co-op, or internship experience with Android or mobile application development.
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week).
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.

Preferred (Competitive) Qualifications

  • Experience building media player or multimedia applications (internship, project, or research).
  • Strong programming and debugging skills in Kotlin and/or Java.
  • Android multi-threaded development experience.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and quality tools (e.g., Jenkins, Parasoft).
  • Contributions to open-source or team software projects.
  • Solid understanding of OOP, design patterns, and testable architectures (JUnit, Espresso, TDD, MVVM, Clean Architecture).
  • Experience with Git-based source control (GitHub, Gerrit, Bitbucket).
  • Working knowledge of Scrum/Agile practices.

  • Estimated base (for reference): $78,921 per year (estimated).
