Overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking an Entry Level Software Engineer to join an engineering team building command-and-control (C2) and autonomy software for uncrewed platforms (air, surface, and subsurface). This is an early-career, in-office role based in Triana, AL. The role supports development of a web-based user interface and backend services used to task and operate uncrewed systems.


Responsibilities

  • Work on an Agile development team delivering incremental value to DoD customers.
  • Follow established software safety and engineering practices for flight-critical systems, including architecture reviews and documentation updates.
  • Design and implement software using object-oriented best practices.
  • Write automated unit and integration tests and support continuous testing.
  • Follow configuration management processes for code maintenance, branching, merging, and releases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teammates to develop system capabilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (or advanced) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline (ABET preferred).
  • 0–3 years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong teamwork, curiosity, and learning orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to design software using object-oriented principles.
  • Experience creating automated unit and integration tests.
  • Familiarity with configuration management practices and Git.
  • Able to work in-office in Triana, AL (local relocation as needed).
  • Willingness to travel CONUS <10%.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Preferred Experience & Technical Skills

  • Experience with C# / .NET, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Experience with React.js and front-end web development.
  • Familiarity with Docker, containerization, and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with Linux-based development environments.
  • Comfortable with Agile processes (experience with XP is a plus).
  • Prior exposure to working on autonomy, robotics, or UxS (drones, RC vehicles) is a plus.

Physical Demands & Work Schedule

  • Regularly required to communicate verbally and hear; frequent standing, walking, handling, and reaching.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • May lift/move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Normal hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; additional hours may be required.
