What You’ll Do

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is looking for an Entry Level Software Engineer (0–3 years experience) to help build command-and-control (C2) and autonomy software for uncrewed platforms (air, surface, ground, submersible). You will work on a web-based user interface and supporting services that enable autonomous tasking of UxS systems for a Department of Defense customer.

Responsibilities

• Work on an Agile software development team delivering incremental value to a DoD customer
• Follow software safety practices for flight‑critical systems, including architecture reviews and documentation updates
• Produce software designs using object‑oriented best practices
• Implement automated unit and integration tests
• Maintain source code, perform merges, and follow configuration management processes
• Participate in team collaboration to develop and integrate system capabilities
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen (required to obtain security clearance)
• Bachelor of Science (or advanced) from an accredited college in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a hard science (ABET preferred)
• 0–3 years of professional software development experience
• Able to produce software designs using object‑oriented methodologies
• Able to develop automated unit and integration tests
• Familiar with configuration management and source control workflows
• Team player, creative, adaptive, and eager to learn

Preferred Experience

• Experience with C# / .NET, JavaScript, and TypeScript
• Experience with React.js
• Familiarity with Docker and microservices architectures
• Knowledge of Agile development practices (XP experience is a plus)
• Experience using Git for source control
• Linux experience and web development background are pluses
• Familiarity with drones, RC planes/boats/ground vehicles is a bonus

Location, Travel & Clearance

• Work location: In-office in Ryland, AL
• CONUS travel: Less than 10%
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance is required

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to talk and hear
• Frequently required to stand, walk, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
• Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Must be able to lift/move up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• Typical hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; occasional additional hours may be required
