Role Overview
Confidential client is seeking an Entry‑Level Software Engineer (Contract) in Painted Post, NY. This is an early-career role ideal for recent graduates or candidates with academic projects, internships, or hands-on development experience. You'll contribute to software used in manufacturing environments, including machine‑vision, measurement/inspection, sensor integration, and data analysis systems.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, test, debug, and improve software components used in manufacturing and inspection systems
- Work on machine vision and image‑processing modules, data collection from sensors/cameras, and reporting/analysis tools
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (hardware, test, QA, product) to deliver reliable solutions
- Write and maintain unit/integration tests and version control practices (Git/GitLab)
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and continuous improvement activities
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects found in development and production test environments
What We’re Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)
- Recent bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field — OR equivalent hands‑on experience (projects, internships)
- Practical experience with one or more languages: C#, Python, C++, Java, or MATLAB
- Familiarity with object‑oriented programming concepts
- Experience or exposure to JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web frameworks (React, Angular, Vue) is helpful
- Basic knowledge of version control tools (Git, GitLab)
- Exposure to relational databases, data analysis, or software testing practices
- Strong problem‑solving mindset, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn
Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have
- Coursework or project experience in machine vision, image processing, measurement & inspection, or sensor integration
- Experience with manufacturing/production systems or industrial protocols
- Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing frameworks, or embedded systems
- Hands-on projects that demonstrate full‑stack or systems programming experience
Employment Details
- Location: Painted Post, NY (on‑site or as required by the project)
- Employment type: CONTRACTOR
- Compensation: $38.00 – $40.00 per hour
- Start date and contract length: determined by Confidential Client and will be discussed during the interview process
