What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level software engineering role supporting mission-focused IT systems. You’ll join cross-functional teams to design, build, test, and deploy software across frontend, backend, and infrastructure layers.

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions supporting program objectives
• Collaborate with product, systems, and QA teams in an Agile (Scrum/Kanban) environment
• Contribute to full-stack development: frontend features, backend services, and data/storage integration
• Implement and consume RESTful APIs and support system integration tasks
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and CI/CD pipelines
• Build and maintain containerized deployments (Docker) and support automated delivery workflows
• Produce and maintain technical documentation

Qualifications

Minimum requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related field
• Practical experience or coursework in JavaScript and relational databases (PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with TypeScript for frontend or backend development
• Exposure to backend frameworks such as Spring Boot and/or languages like Go or Java
• Understanding of RESTful API design and implementation
• Experience or familiarity with Docker and container-based deployment workflows
• Comfortable working in Agile teams and participating in CI/CD processes

Legal & clearance requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required due to program and facility access rules
• Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance (selected applicants will be subject to a U.S. Government background investigation)

Nice to Have

• GitOps experience (e.g., FluxCD) and declarative deployment practices
• Experience with message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
• Observability tooling: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, OpenTelemetry
• CI/CD pipeline configuration and automation experience
• Kubernetes or other container orchestration exposure

Workplace & Clearance

This position is fully on-site in Fernwood, WA. On-site presence is required for program and facility work. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance are mandatory for this role.

Compensation

This posting lists a salary range based on experience and location: USD $80,000.00 - USD $95,000.00 per year. Actual pay may vary based on skills, experience, and internal equity. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
