Role summary
Confidential Client (Healthcare) is seeking an experienced Software Developer (Web Development) to join an agile engineering team responsible for designing, building, and operating scalable web applications. You will work across the full stack—contributing to architecture, writing production-quality code, and delivering customer-facing features using React, Python, cloud services (GCP/AWS), and modern CI/CD practices.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement scalable web applications and services using modern frameworks and cloud platforms.
- Translate design mockups, prototypes, and user stories into production-ready features.
- Write clear engineering specifications and high-quality code that follows coding standards.
- Build and maintain REST/GraphQL APIs and database views; collaborate on data model decisions.
- Participate in all Agile/Scrum ceremonies, assist sprint planning, and update work items in Jira/RTC.
- Monitor progress against schedules, report blockers, and help unblock teammates.
- Contribute to system architecture discussions and trade-off decisions to balance short-term delivery and long-term maintainability.
- Mentor associate and intermediate engineers; promote code reviews, testing, and secure coding practices.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments (on-premise, OpenShift, GCP).
Required qualifications
The client’s posted requirements include the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field (Master’s preferred).
- Strong software fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
- Substantial hands-on experience (as listed by the client) with one or more general-purpose languages such as Java, Python (Django/Flask), JavaScript, C/C++, C#, Objective-C, or Go.
- Experience with at least two of: React, Angular (v4+), Node.js, NoSQL databases, HTML5, CSS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Solid understanding of web services technologies (REST, JSON).
- Experience defining system architectures and evaluating technical feasibility trade-offs.
- Demonstrated experience building large-scale, consumer-facing applications.
- Familiarity with CI/CD (GitLab CI/CD), deployment strategies, role-based security, and access control.
- Experience working in healthcare environments and adherence to HIPAA and data security requirements.
- Ability and willingness to learn new languages and technologies as required.

Preferred / Nice-to-have
- Full-stack experience combining React frontends with Python backends and relational/data-warehouse technologies.
- Hands-on with Celery, GCP Pub/Sub, and other distributed system patterns.
- Experience with automated testing, performance tuning, and security best practices.
- Previous mentorship or technical leadership responsibilities.
- Exposure to Natural Language Understanding / Machine Translation or other ML systems.
Location & travel
This is an office-based position in Virginia (VA). Travel between client sites may be required on a regular basis.
Employment type & compensation
- Employment type: FULL_TIME.
- Compensation reference from client materials: base pay example noted as 164,600.00 USD (client-provided figure). Job listing also displays an estimated figure of $109,505/year — applicants should consider client verification during interview/offer stages.
