Position summary

Confidential Client is hiring an Entry-Level Security Analyst for a W-2, full-time, one-year contract (with possible extension) based in Pineridge, SC. This is an entry-level cybersecurity role with formal training provided. Candidates must be current South Carolina residents and able to work required weekend evening shifts after training.


What You’ll Do

  • Monitor and analyze threat intelligence feeds and use OSINT to identify emerging threats.
  • Conduct proactive threat hunts across network and endpoint telemetry using provided playbooks and tools.
  • Create, test, and refine detection rules (SIEM queries, Defender for Endpoint rules) in collaboration with senior analysts.
  • Review logs from firewalls, endpoints, and servers to identify indicators of compromise (IOCs) and escalate appropriately.
  • Assist with initial incident triage, gather/interpret evidence, and support containment and remediation following standard frameworks (e.g., NIST, MITRE ATT&CK).
  • Produce clear incident reports, after-action reviews, and documentation to improve processes and knowledge transfer.
  • Support vulnerability management efforts by analyzing reports, prioritizing patching, and following NIST best practices.
  • Help develop and deliver security awareness training and simulations for employees.
  • Use SCCM, GPO, and PowerShell to support patch deployment and automate routine security tasks.
  • Contribute to endpoint and network security configuration, alert tuning, and policy enforcement.
  • Participate in digital forensics activities and expand knowledge of cloud-specific security controls as needed.

Schedule & Work Requirements

  • Employment type: Full-time (W-2 only).
  • Hours/week: ~38.
  • Mandatory availability: Saturday and Sunday evening coverage (likely 8:00 PM–8:00 AM — two 12-hour shifts) after training; day shifts on Wednesday and Thursday (8:30 AM–2:45 PM).
  • Must be a current resident of South Carolina (SC).

Required Qualifications

  • Understanding of core security concepts and processes.
  • Basic computer and networking knowledge.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Willingness to learn on the job and complete training provided by the client.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience in server or network administration.
  • 1+ year in an IT security-focused role (help desk, SOC analyst, etc.).
  • Familiarity with SIEM and endpoint security tools.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Group Policy (GPO), and endpoint management (e.g., SCCM).
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management and cloud security fundamentals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.

Certifications (helpful)

  • CompTIA Security+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)
  • GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills — able to identify anomalies and recommend remediation.
  • Attention to detail in log analysis, rule tuning, and documentation.
  • Good verbal and written communication; able to work effectively with a mid-sized team.
  • Comfortable following structured playbooks and standard operating procedures.

Compensation & Additional Info

  • Estimated pay: approximately $84,020/year (estimated).
  • Duration: One-year contract with possible extensions.
  • Interview process: 1–2 virtual or onsite interview rounds.
