Entry-Level Shipboard IT (SBIT) Specialist
The Entry-Level Shipboard IT Specialist supports the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program by managing and executing IT projects related to shipboard systems, including network deployment, cybersecurity, and software support. Compensation & Employment Type
This role offers an annual salary range of $60,200 - $88,100 (salary commensurate with education and experience).
Employment type: Full-time, Permanent. Remote-friendly/telecommute option may apply.
What You’ll Do
You will join a confidential client’s team supporting shipboard IT for Naval programs. Under supervision, typical responsibilities include:
- Support planning, design, analysis, documentation, and testing of computer and electrical components, systems, and facilities in accordance with lifecycle processes.
- Execute assigned IT projects addressing obsolescence, cybersecurity, and technical requirements using user feedback and field metrics.
- Assist in supplier oversight: review designs, test reports and deliverables; support supplier performance activities.
- Provide planned and emergent fleet support and assist with fielding activities both remotely and onsite.
- Collaborate in technical design reviews and integration activities; help validate, verify, and test procedures for assigned systems.
- Maintain detailed documentation: procedures, system diagrams, specifications, configuration records, and estimates.
- Contribute to sustainment and modernization efforts—planning, testing, and implementing system updates and process improvements.
- Prepare technical correspondence and supporting materials for Government review under supervision.
- Develop and deliver end-user training materials and sessions for assigned systems.
- Learn and follow company engineering policies and quality requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited institution — OR equivalent combination of education and experience (eight (8) or more years of completed education and/or relevant experience may be considered).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance is required; U.S. citizenship is required for clearance applicants.
- All qualified candidates will be considered regardless of current clearance status.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred for recent graduates.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and common business applications.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with attention to detail and deadlines.
- Foundational knowledge or experience in network administration, virtualization, cybersecurity practices, or software development tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira/Confluence).
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive internal and external relationships and adapt to changing project needs.
Work Location & Security Clearance
- Primary location: Monroeville, PA. Remote/telecommute options may be available depending on program needs.
- Role may require travel to customer sites and field locations for installation, testing, and operational support.
- Candidates must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background investigation.
- U.S. citizenship is required for applicants who must obtain and maintain DOE security clearance.
