Confidential Client is hiring for an entry-level, patient-facing clinical research nursing role supporting oncology clinical trials. This position is hands-on and combines direct patient care with research operations—performing specimen collection, managing vascular access, conducting assessments and ECGs, and maintaining protocol-driven documentation to protect patient safety and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Access, de-access, and maintain central venous devices (ports, PICCs); place peripheral IVs as needed for blood collection
- Collect, process, and document specimens using peripheral and central line techniques and protocol-specific collection methods
- Perform line flushes and assess patients with challenging venous access
- Collect and document vital signs and ECGs; recognize and escalate abnormal ECG findings per protocol
- Provide direct nursing care per physician orders, study protocols, and SOPs
- Perform nursing assessments, monitor patients during clinic visits, and document clinical findings
- Prepare, quality-check, and manage sponsor-provided research collection kits
- Route collected specimens to appropriate departments for processing and analysis
- Keep pharmacokinetic rooms and clinical spaces clean, stocked, and patient-ready
- Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot clinic- and sponsor-owned ECG equipment
- Accurately collect and maintain source data in accordance with protocol and regulatory requirements
- Complete and respond to data queries with appropriate source documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional study teams to support patient care and research operations
- Adhere to protocols, lab manuals, SOPs, GCP, and confidentiality/regulatory requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Current RN license to practice in the state of Tennessee
- Current BLS certification
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Clinical skills: venipuncture, IV placement, central line care, ECG acquisition, vital sign and nursing assessments
- Familiarity with clinical research documentation, GCP principles, and regulatory requirements
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and commitment to patient safety and data integrity
- Effective communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced clinical research environment
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Prior exposure to oncology clinical trials or clinical research settings
- Experience with sponsor-provided specimen kits and pharmacokinetic sampling procedures
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot clinical equipment and support study operations
