What You’ll Do
This role is a hands-on R&D / QC technician position supporting welding consumables and raw-material testing, product development, and manufacturing quality control for a confidential client in the Welding & Metal Fabrication industry.
- Perform welding tests and evaluate the performance of welding consumables.
- Perform chemical and physical testing of raw materials, coatings, fluxes, and metal samples.
- Prepare laboratory samples and materials for testing.
- Conduct routine quality-control testing and accurately document results.
- Assist in developing and improving welding products and formulations.
- Support troubleshooting and investigations of welding defects, product performance, and material issues.
- Record test data and prepare clear technical reports.
- Maintain laboratory and testing equipment.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, and R&D personnel to improve product quality and manufacturing performance.
- Follow company, OSHA, environmental, and laboratory safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Basic ability to weld — mandatory.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Ability and willingness to work in both laboratory and manufacturing environments.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn welding metallurgy, laboratory testing, and welding consumable technology.
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field (preferred).
- Previous laboratory, welding, manufacturing, or industrial experience.
- Knowledge of welding processes and metallurgy.
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques such as spectroscopy, titration, pH analysis, or metallurgical testing.
- Experience with analytical equipment such as ICP or XRF.
- Understanding of metal alloys, welding consumables, or corrosion testing.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and industry standards.
Working Conditions & Safety
- Work in both laboratory and manufacturing plant environments.
- May require use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and respirators.
- Standing for extended periods and handling chemical materials may be required.

- Estimated salary: $58,284 per year (estimated).
