Physical Properties Technician — Overview
This entry-level Physical Properties Technician role in Maplewood, MN (full-time) is an on-site laboratory position supporting a confidential client in the Scientific & QA / Analytical Laboratory Services industry. You will receive training and perform hands-on testing of adhesive and film products using precision measurement tools and equipment. Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
What You’ll Do
You will work in a lab environment performing sample preparation, routine equipment maintenance, and physical testing. Responsibilities include:
- Prepare test samples for adhesive, film, paper and tape products
- Run physical property tests including tensile & shear strength, bond strength, mechanical (MTS) testing, density and viscosity measurements
- Maintain and calibrate routine lab equipment and test fixtures
- Record, organize and maintain test data in Excel and internal systems
- Follow standard operating procedures and maintain a clean, safe workspace
- Report observations and contribute to troubleshooting and process improvements
- Assist with general lab maintenance and occasional lifting (up to 40 lbs)
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in a science field (Chemistry or Physics preferred) or equivalent laboratory experience
- Hands-on experience or coursework using precision measurement tools and electronic test equipment
- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel for data entry and basic analysis
- Strong communication, organization and task-management skills
- Curiosity, attention to detail, and willingness to speak up and collaborate
- Mechanically inclined; experience with common hand tools a plus
- Ability to safely lift up to 40 lbs occasionally
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay: $22.00 per hour (full-time)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Location: On-site in Maplewood, MN
