What You’ll Do

Careertakes is recruiting on behalf of a Confidential Client for an Entry‑Level Nutritionist role supporting pet food and feed programs. You will work closely with quality, production, and procurement teams to help develop, evaluate, and implement pet nutrition programs and product formulations.

  • Support development, evaluation, and implementation of pet food formulations and nutrition programs
  • Analyze feed ingredients and ingredient specifications for nutritional value and consistency
  • Assist with formulation work and use (or learn) formulation tools/software to produce balanced recipes
  • Conduct industry research on ingredients, trends, and regulatory guidance (including AAFCO)
  • Collaborate with quality, production, and procurement to ensure products meet nutritional and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate nutritional documentation and formulation records
  • Support product development trials and evaluate outcomes from a nutritional and quality perspective
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to cross‑functional teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science, Food Science, or a related field
  • Foundational knowledge of animal nutrition principles and feed formulation with 3–5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to interpret nutritional data and ingredient specifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to work independently and in a team environment

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in the pet food, feed, or animal nutrition industry (3–5 years preferred)
  • Familiarity with pet food formulation software or feed formulation tools
  • Understanding of pet food manufacturing processes and ingredient sourcing
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to animal feed and nutrition (including AAFCO guidelines)
  • Interest in emerging ingredients and innovations in pet nutrition
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate technical documentation

Compensation, Location & Employment Type

  • Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year (range provided by the Confidential Client)
  • Location: Rockford, IL (posted location). Role will collaborate with cross‑functional teams and may involve coordination with other sites.
  • Employment type: Full‑time
