What You’ll Do

This early-career Nutritionist role supports product development, formulation, and quality efforts for pet food/feed products. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams (quality, production, procurement) to help ensure finished products meet nutritional and regulatory standards.

• Support development, evaluation, and implementation of nutrition programs and pet food/feed formulations
• Analyze feed ingredients and ingredient specifications to inform formulation decisions
• Assist with formulation trials and track outcomes, including nutritional analysis and documentation
• Conduct industry research on ingredients, trends, and regulatory guidance (e.g., AAFCO)
• Collaborate with production and quality teams to monitor product performance and resolve technical issues
• Maintain accurate records and nutritional documentation for formulations and product specifications
• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to internal stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science, Food Science, or a related field
• Foundational knowledge of animal nutrition principles and feed formulation
• 0–5 years relevant experience (job is entry/early-career; posting references 3–5 years as preferred)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to interpret nutritional data and ingredient specifications
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and on teams

Preferred / Helpful Skills

• Experience in the pet food, feed, or animal nutrition industry (preferred)
• Familiarity with pet food/feed formulation software or feed formulation tools
• Understanding of pet food manufacturing processes and ingredient sourcing
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to animal feed and nutrition (including AAFCO guidelines)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate technical documentation

Compensation & Location

• Salary range: $70,000 – $90,000 per year (base) — provided by the original posting
• Location: Listed for the Normal, IL area with operational support in Mishawaka, IN (refer to the static header for your specific posting location and details)
